Sitting in front of a computer leads me paralysis, but give me a pen and paper, a cup of tea and my favorite spot on the couch, words flow. So, most of these words came first from that hallowed spot. When I write “pen”, that is exactly what I mean. You may be reading a typed entry, but know it first started in that corner. Maybe you can imagine your favorite spot as you read:
Here I am, pen in hand. What will this pen write today? I see it make marks as my fingers operate it. Lord, what is ahead today? The day started early today. It seems that happens often now. The quiet of the morning: tick of the clock, hum of the refrigerator, and occasional moo, or bark of the dogs, but no other sounds.
The only light is a lamp illuminating the area directly in front of me. I’m in a set-aside place, a holy place for a holy task. From my reading this morning, these words grabbed my attention: God doesn’t use us as his instruments because he is needy, but because he created us for partnership with him, enjoys our fellowship, and knows we will enjoy his. We get to see who he is by working alongside him.
He gives us: power, grace, love, companionship, and so much more. How many things can you add to the list? I have some: creativity, patience, intentionality, patience.
Lord, thank you for this journey. Thank you for inviting me to join you on this adventure. It is a delight and a privilege.
